The Orbite solitaire: a round brilliant held in four claws above a tapered yellow-gold shank.

Contemporary jewellery house

Light, heldin gold.

Orbite: one round brilliant, four claws and a shank that rises to meet them. A ring drawn to hold light for as long as it is worn.

The house

We make few things, and we make them slowly.

AURÉ began with a single drawing: a ring whose setting seemed to float above the hand. Every piece since has followed the same discipline. Draw the line, remove what it doesn't need, and redraw it until nothing else can go.

We work in three golds and one cut of stone. The restraint is the point: when there is less to look at, the light has more to do.

The Orbite seen in profile against ivory: the shank deepens as it climbs to carry the setting.
Profile. The shank deepens as it rises, so the stone is carried rather than perched.
  1. 01

    Drawing

Every piece begins as one line on paper and is redrawn until nothing can be taken away.

  2. 02

    Proportion

Stones are cut to proportion rather than size, because light, not weight, is what you see.

  3. 03

    Finish

Metal is polished until it holds a reflection without a ripple, inside the band as well as out.

The art of detail

Everything you notice second.

  1. Close view of the Orbite's claws folding over the edge of the stone.
    01 / 04

    The claw

Four claws, each tapered and rounded by hand, fold over the crown just far enough to hold the stone without hiding it.

  2. The Orbite's stone seen face-up: the facet pattern of a round brilliant within four claws.
    02 / 04

    The stone

A round brilliant of fifty-seven facets, cut so the light entering the table returns through it rather than leaking away below.

  3. The underside of the setting: the gallery rail beneath the stone and the rising shoulders.
    03 / 04

    The gallery

Beneath the stone, a fine rail ties the claws together and leaves the sides open, so light reaches the stone from every angle.

  4. The Orbite in side profile, showing the shank rising to meet the setting.
    04 / 04

    The profile

The shank narrows as it climbs, then deepens to carry the setting: a cathedral line you notice only when the hand turns.
